No one quite knows when the first story was told.

But what we do know is that story telling came before the written word, and was used to pass on vital information from one generation to another. We shared information to protect each other, to illustrate the pleasure and the pain in the world and, perhaps in the end, to share our unique perspective on what it is to be alive.
